Durateq Scores Assistive Touchdown at the Hall at Patriot Place Presented by Raytheon

January 26, 2009

FOXBOROUGH, MA — January 27, 2009 — Softeq Development Corporation proudly announces the latest DURATEQ Assistive Technology Version (ATV) installation at The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon. The new DURATEQ ATV system provides a solution that makes The Hall accessible to anyone requiring audio or visual assistance.

The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon is the only sports and education experience of its kind. Through a dazzling array of interactive multimedia, audio and video, The Hall showcases the tradition of the New England Patriots, explores the history of football in New England, and promotes math and science education.

The Kraft Group set out to build a universal experience for all visitors including those who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or have low vision. Softeq Development and captioning leader WGBH worked together to create a customized solution that employs assistive technology to deliver content for these guests.

Originally developed for a Florida theme park, the DURATEQ ATV handheld devices make the full museum experience available to guests who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or have low vision. Softeq’s ALICE (Assistive Listening and Captioning Engine) software provides handheld captioning, assistive listening, and descriptive narration on the personal handheld devices.

The DURATEQ ATV solution offers organizations the ability to provide a single personal device which helps private entities such as museums, restaurants, and stores to meet Title III of the ADA requirements which require that public accommodations do not discriminate against disabled individuals. Where necessary, accommodations must be made to provide aids or services to ensure effective communication. The US Department of Justice established precedence in a landmark case in 2004 at the International Spy Museum.

DURATEQ Handheld Solutions

Developed by Softeq Development, the DURATEQ handheld is the thinnest and lightest rugged handheld that is maximized for compatibility with commercial and custom applications. The DURATEQ unit is IP54 rated for dust and splash resistance, and meets the relevant Military Standard 810F criteria for handheld electronics to ensure durability in public environments.
